Licensing and demo mode

Can I test the plugins before buying?

All our plugins are free to use in demo mode. Get the installers from the Downloads page. In demo mode you cannot save new presets and there is a short noise burst every minute.

What does buying a product licence allow me to do?

Purchasing a product licence allows you to unlock the demo mode of the named plugin on up to 3 machines. You will need to create a Physical Audio user account on this website to purchase a licence.

Presets and locations

How do I work with presets?

All our plugins use a custom preset mechanism shown at the top of the plugin window. A set of Factory presets is written when the plugin is initially opened after installation. These presets, along with user created presets, are stored as .papreset files in the folder location indicated at the bottom of the plugin’s information window (the ‘i’ button).

How do I restore the Factory presets?

To restore the Factory presets delete the presets folder. The location is shown at the bottom of the plugin’s information window. You should take a backup of user created presets beforehand.

Where are the plugins stored?

The installers write the plugins to the standard locations, which are:

macOS

HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins

Windows

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

Apple Silicon

Do the plugins work on Apple Silicon machines?

Yes. All our macOS plugins support both Intel and Apple Silicon machines. The Audio Unit and VST3s are Universal builds which will run natively on either architecture as long as the host DAW allows that. The Pro Tools AAXs for Modus and both Reverbs are Universal builds. The Derailer and Preparation AAXs are currently Intel builds which will run on Apple Silicon under Rosetta. These will be updated to Universal builds soon.

Educational discounts

Do you provide student or educational discounts?

Yes. Student or educational discounts of 10% are available to those who hold an email address at an educational institution. You must create a user account with that email address, and then contact support21@physicalaudio.co.uk to get the account verified. These discounts are available at our discretion.
